Do we like Ka D'Argo?
A character from Farscape (1999–2003)
Our score: 8 out of 10. Loud, short-tempered and quick to draw a blade, but he is also loyal and brave. Once he trusts you, he fights for you. We'd back him, and stand well back when he's cross.
Farscape follows an Earth astronaut, John Crichton, who is flung across the universe and lands among a crew of escaped prisoners aboard Moya, a living ship. Ka D'Argo is one of those prisoners. He is a Luxan warrior who was locked up by the Peacekeepers for a crime he says he didn't commit. He is enormous and strong, he is covered in fighting scars, and his people have a name for being violent and impulsive.
D'Argo starts out as the crew's most dangerous and least trusting member. He is loud and blustery, and he loses his temper easily. His weapon is a tongue sting that can stun an enemy, and he is never without his qualta blade, a ceremonial weapon that stands for his honour. At first he treats Crichton very roughly, with threats and a lash of the tongue.
He scores well because of what he does once the shouting is over. Luxans are slow to trust, but they are fiercely loyal once they do. Over the series D'Argo goes from a vengeful fighter to a protective friend and family man, and his bond with the crew becomes the heart of him. He loses a point or two for the rages and the bad calls they cause, but he is a warrior we'd happily follow into trouble.
His story carries on past the series into the Peacekeeper Wars miniseries. There he is still fighting for the people he cares about, and he does not make it out of the miniseries alive.
