Do we like Jinbe?
A character from One Piece (1997–present)
Our score: 9 out of 10. Yes. He's honourable, steady and strong, and he'll put his own neck on the line for a friend. Any crew would be lucky to have him at the helm.
Jinbe is a giant whale shark fish-man and a master of Fish-Man Karate. He rose from the Sun Pirates to become the first fish-man Seven Warlord of the Sea. He is calm, dignified and deeply loyal, and he carries a heavy sense of responsibility for his people.
He first meets Luffy while he is a Warlord, and he is one of the few powerful figures who treats the young pirate with real respect. He keeps choosing what he thinks is right over what is safe or convenient. Those choices cost him his rank and put him in dangerous company more than once.
He ends up giving up the Warlord title after refusing to betray his principles. Later he joins the Straw Hats officially as their helmsman. He is steady and wise, and he is a good counterweight to the crew's chaos. We score him 9 out of 10 because he's honest, brave and kind, and he's rarely rash.
