Do we like Jill Valentine?
A character from Resident Evil (1996)
Our score: 9 out of 10. Yes, we'd back her. She's brave, resourceful and loyal, and she keeps trying to save people while everything falls apart around her.
Jill Valentine is a member of S.T.A.R.S., the elite special-forces unit of the Raccoon City police. In the first Resident Evil, her Alpha Team goes into a mansion in the Arklay Mountains to investigate a series of grisly incidents. She's the team's lockpicking and break-in specialist, and she's known for staying calm and thinking quickly.
Across the series, Jill is a cool-headed survivor who is practical, dry-humoured and fiercely loyal, especially to her partner Chris Redfield. She generally tries to get others out alive first. That unselfishness is why she scores so high with us.
In Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, she is hunted through the ruined Raccoon City by a relentless bioweapon, and she still helps the survivors she meets along the way. Later in the series she is manipulated and used against her friends, which is something done to her rather than a choice she makes. She comes out of it still a hero.
