Do we like Jigglypuff?
A character from Pokémon (1996–present)
Our score: 6 out of 10. Harmless and a bit vain. Its only crime is a sleepy concert and some marker doodles, and you'd back it for the sheer determination.
Jigglypuff is a pink, balloon-like Pokémon with huge eyes and a lullaby that makes everyone who hears it fall asleep. In the anime it keeps turning up on Ash's journey, wandering from town to town with one goal: to sing for an audience that stays awake.
The running gag is that every performance ends the same way. The audience nods off, and Jigglypuff, offended, pulls out a marker and draws on the sleepers' faces. Ash, Misty, Brock and Team Rocket have all been on the receiving end.
We score it a 6. The pranks are childish rather than cruel, and it never means real harm. Its relentless drive to be appreciated is easy to root for, even though it can't take a hint, and its habit of pouting and vandalising sleeping people keeps it from being a hero.
