Do we like Jessie?
A character from Toy Story 2 (1999)
Our score: 8 out of 10. Yes, we'd back her. She's brave, loyal and funny, and her fear of abandonment makes her easy to root for.
Jessie is a spirited cowgirl doll who first appears in Toy Story 2. She comes from the old TV show Woody's Roundup, and she is bubbly, athletic and loud in the best way. She's a collector's item, and Woody meets her when he is pulled away from Andy's room.
Her main trait is a deep fear of being forgotten or put away in the dark. It makes her guarded and sometimes pushy, but it comes from real hurt rather than meanness. Her warmth, her humor and her willingness to fight for the people she cares about outweigh that.
In the later films she becomes a core member of Andy's toy family. She leads, takes risks and backs up Woody and Buzz when things get dangerous. We score her an 8: she isn't flawless, but she is loyal and brave and she grows over time.
