Jake is a magical dog with the power to stretch and change shape. He lives in a treehouse in the Land of Ooo with Finn, the human boy he treats as a brother. In the early episodes the two spend their days going on adventures, rescuing princesses, and fighting weird monsters.

Jake is the relaxed one of the pair. He is full of laid-back wisdom, loves bacon pancakes and his viola, and tends to improvise. He is also a loyal friend who steps in when Finn gets in over his head. He has flaws: he can be lazy and a little selfish, and he sometimes dodges responsibility. But he is warm, funny and quick to say sorry.

Over the series Jake gets his own family and his own worries, and the show uses them to give him more depth. He stays one of TV's most dependable friends, which is why he scores a 9.
