Do we like Isa the Iguana?
A character from Dora the Explorer (2000–2019)
Our score: 8 out of 10. Yes, we'd back her. She's patient, kind and knows her facts, and she's the friend you'd want when the map gets confusing.
Isa is a six-year-old green iguana in the preschool adventure series Dora the Explorer. Each episode follows Dora and her monkey friend Boots on a quest, and viewers at home are asked to help with puzzles, maps and Spanish words. Isa lives in the Flowery Garden, loves growing flowers, and is one of the group's closest friends.
Her role is the thoughtful one. She makes her way through the forest slowly and carefully, and she's often a step ahead of the others. She hands over the facts and advice Dora and Boots need, and she's happy to join their adventures too. She has known Boots for a long time, and she's a bit shyer around him than around Dora.
We scored her 8 out of 10 because she's reliably kind, sensible and loyal. She never tricks anyone, never boasts, and always turns up to help. She loses a couple of points only because she's a supporting player. She's more of a dependable guide than a bold leader, and her adventures are gentle ones.
