Do we like Ichigo Kurosaki?

A character from Bleach (2001–2016 (manga); a)

Our score: 9 out of 10. Yes, we'd back him. He's loud, stubborn and hot-headed, but he will always step in for the people he cares about and for strangers in trouble.

Ichigo is a tough, scowling high schooler in Karakura Town. He has always been able to see spirits. One night he meets the Soul Reaper Rukia Kuchiki, who is hunting a Hollow, a monstrous lost soul. The Hollow threatens his family, so Ichigo takes on her powers to protect them. He ends up working as a substitute Soul Reaper.

His defining trait is loyalty. He doesn't much care about the rules of the afterlife or its authorities. He cares about whoever is in front of him, and he'll fight a much stronger opponent rather than watch someone get hurt. He can be reckless, he sulks and shouts, and he often charges in without a plan. But he grows steadily more capable, and his friends trust him for good reason.

We give him a 9. He's brave, loyal and decent under all the bluster. The ones who lose points are the people who have to clean up after him, and his habit of carrying every burden alone sometimes makes things harder for his friends.
