Do we like Gojo Satoru?
A character from Jujutsu Kaisen (2018–)
Our score: 8 out of 10. Yes, we'd back him. He's cocky, late and a bit of a menace, but he's also the teacher who stands between his students and anything that wants to hurt them.
Gojo is a special-grade jujutsu sorcerer, head of the Gojo clan, and a teacher at Tokyo Jujutsu High. He's easy to spot: white hair, a blindfold, and a pocketful of sweets. Jujutsu Kaisen follows sorcerers who fight cursed spirits born from human negative emotions. Gojo is the one who takes in Yuji Itadori, a teenager who swallowed a cursed finger, and trains him alongside Megumi and Nobara.
He is the strongest sorcerer of his era because he combines two rare hereditary gifts, the Six Eyes and the Limitless technique. He knows it, and he jokes through danger. But he took the teaching job for a reason. He thinks the old men running jujutsu society are rotten, and he wants to raise strong allies who can change things. Under the jokes, he protects his students fiercely.
That's why he scores an 8 and not a 10. He's a brilliant mentor and a loyal friend, but he's also overconfident. He can be careless with people's feelings, and his loneliness comes from being so far above everyone else. We'd follow him a long way. We'd also want someone to tell him to stop taunting the villains.
The story can't leave a character this strong on the board forever. He gets taken out of the fight during the Shibuya Incident. His fate after that is permanent, and it leaves his students facing the future without him. It's the heaviest cost of his plan to rely on being unbeatable.
