Do we like Gohan?
A character from Dragon Ball Z (1989-1996)
Our score: 8 out of 10. Yes, we'd back him. He's kind, brave and a reluctant fighter, and he steps up when it counts. Just don't expect him to train unless he has to.
Gohan is introduced as the first son of Goku and Chi-Chi. His mother wants him to be a scholar, and he is a sweet, shy, studious boy. He has no appetite for fighting, even though he is half Saiyan and carries huge latent power.
When the Saiyan threat arrives, Gohan is pulled into battles far beyond his age. His power tends to surface when someone he loves is in danger. He is more a reluctant protector than a warrior, and that is why he's likeable.
As a teen he balances school, a goofy secret hero identity (the Great Saiyaman) and world-saving duty. He's not perfect: he can be complacent, and he sometimes lets his guard down at the worst moments. But his heart is always in the right place, so he scores high. He loses a point or two for avoidable mistakes and for letting his training slip.
