Do we like Duggee?
A character from Hey Duggee (2014–present)
Our score: 10 out of 10. Yes, easily. He's patient, kind and endlessly encouraging, and he hugs everyone at the end. We'd happily join his club.
Duggee is a big dog who runs the Squirrel Club, a children's club for a gang of small animals: Tag, Betty, Roly, Happy and Norrie. Every episode he takes them on an adventure, from a trip to the seaside to learning about patience. At the end they earn a badge, followed by a big group hug.
He is a steady, cheerful leader who never loses his temper. The Squirrels often get things wrong or fall out with each other, and Duggee guides them to fix it themselves. He is also quietly good at nearly everything, which is part of the show's joke.
He scores a 10 because he is warm, safe and fair. He is the kind of grown-up we would want looking after any child, and he does it with good humour. The show also gives parents plenty of sly jokes and surprising twists on the same simple format.
