Do we like Dio Brando?
A character from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (1987-present)
Our score: 0 out of 10. No. He's a charming, power-hungry villain who treats everyone as a stepping stone. He's great fun to watch, but you'd never want him on your side.
Dio Brando arrives at the Joestar mansion in Victorian England as the son of a man who once helped Jonathan's father. He's clever, polite in public and hungry for status. The story starts as a rivalry between Dio and his adoptive brother Jonathan, and it grows into a long battle between the Joestar family and a supernatural evil.
Dio has no real loyalty or conscience. He bullies Jonathan in private while charming the adults. He sees kindness as weakness and people as tools. His confidence and showmanship make him one of anime and manga's most memorable villains, and they are why audiences enjoy hating him.
He scores a 0 because he never shows real regret and he never gives anything up for anyone else. He doesn't just do wrong. He enjoys it. Later parts of the series show him growing more dangerous and more powerful, and his menace never softens.
