Our score: 8 out of 10. Cocky, broke and endlessly stylish, but he reliably shows up and protects people from demons. We'd back him, as long as someone else pays for the pizza.

Dante is a demon hunter who runs a ramshackle business called Devil May Cry. He is the son of a legendary demon and a human mother, so he has the power to fight hell's forces. The series follows him through job after job as demons try to break into the human world.

He is flippant, overconfident and always short on cash. He loves pizza and strawberry sundaes and treats deadly fights like a stage show, but underneath the swagger he is loyal and cares about the people he protects. His stylish combat is a big part of the series' appeal.

We scored him an 8 because he does the right thing when it counts, even while complaining about it. He is reckless and messy, and he tends to wreck whatever building he's in, but he never abandons people who need help. He is easy to like, and you'd want him on your side.
