Do we like Chun-Li?
A character from Street Fighter II (1991)
Our score: 9 out of 10. Yes. She's driven, disciplined and protective, and she uses her strength to take down criminals. We'd follow her into any tournament.
Chun-Li debuted in Capcom's Street Fighter II (1991) and was the series' first playable woman. She is a Chinese martial artist and Interpol investigator. The story sends fighters from around the world to a tournament, and she joins it to follow the trail of the crime syndicate Shadaloo and its leader, M. Bison. Her father's disappearance gives her a personal reason to pursue them.
Her personality is steady and principled. She is a detective first and a brawler second. Her fighting style, built on fast kicks, shows years of discipline. Across the games she is shown as warm toward friends and fierce toward anyone who preys on the vulnerable, and she holds to her duty even when the case is personal.
We score her 9 out of 10. Her motive is justice rather than simple revenge, she works within an institution, and her violence is aimed at those who deserve it. The one point we hold back is for how heavily the personal vendetta weighs on her. It makes her relentless, though it never makes her cruel.
