Do we like Chase?

A character from PAW Patrol (2013–present)

Our score: 9 out of 10. Yes, we'd back him. He's brave, loyal and fast, and he takes the job seriously. He's a bit stiff, but he's a great pup to have on your side.

Chase is one of the original pups in PAW Patrol. In the show, a boy named Ryder leads a team of rescue dogs in Adventure Bay. Each pup has an emergency-service job, and Chase's are police and spy work. He drives a police cruiser and uses a megaphone, a net launcher and traffic cones. His catchphrase is that he's on the case.

He's usually the most serious and mature of the pups. He takes his duties to heart, but he's playful and goofy when he's off duty. He's a close friend of Marshall, the team's firefighter pup. He's quick and disciplined, and he's the one you want for tracking, chasing and keeping order.

There are small flaws, which is why he doesn't get a perfect 10. He can be a little rigid and a little too proud of being the responsible one. Even so, he's loyal, honest and brave, and he does a lot of good in a very gentle world.

In the first PAW Patrol movie, a rescue goes wrong when Chase freezes in panic. The film ties this to his past as a stray. He has to face that fear before he can come through for Ryder and the team. It makes him more human and, if anything, easier to back.
