Do we like C-3PO?

A character from Star Wars (1977–present)

Our score: 8 out of 10. Anxious, fussy and constantly complaining, but loyal, kind and brave when it counts. We'd back him, and we'd keep him around for the translation.

C-3PO is a protocol droid built for etiquette, diplomacy and translation. He's fluent in over six million forms of communication. He's prissy and nervous, and he keeps predicting that things will go badly. He's usually paired with the cheerful, stubborn astromech R2-D2.

The two droids are swept up in the war between the Rebel Alliance and the Empire. They end up alongside the Skywalker family and their friends across the saga. 3PO has no taste for adventure and says so constantly. He still follows his friends into trouble because he cares about them.

He scores well because his loyalty never wavers, even when he's terrified. His complaining is part of his charm. He's kind, polite and useful, and he rarely hurts anyone. He loses points for being a coward in a crisis and for making a bad situation worse by talking too much.
