Our score: 9 out of 10. Yes, we'd back him. He's loyal, endlessly upbeat and always up for the next adventure. He gets a little carried away now and then, but it never lasts.

Boots is a monkey and Dora's best friend. Nickelodeon describes him as a furry five-and-a-half-year-old who speaks English. In each episode Dora sets out to reach a goal, and Boots goes along, helps with clues and puzzles, and talks to the viewer at home.

He is sweet, playful and giggly, and he likes to hold Dora's hand and follow her lead like a worshipful younger brother. He loves making her laugh and surprising her. When he's down, he bounces back quickly with one of his signature triple flips.

He isn't a perfect planner. Left alone, he tends to pick his own route, which is often a dangerous one, and Dora ends up as the voice of reason. But his heart is always in the right place. He's a loyal sidekick who is happy to drop whatever he's doing for his friend, which is why he scores so high with us.
