Do we like Boo?
A character from Monsters, Inc. (2001)
Our score: 9 out of 10. Yes, we'd back her. She's pure, brave and giggly, and she makes the monsters around her better without trying.
Boo is a small girl who gets into Monstropolis, a city powered by the screams of children. The monsters are told that human kids are toxic, so everyone is terrified of her. She wanders in through a bedroom door that was left active on the factory floor.
Sulley, the company's top scarer, ends up looking after her, with his assistant Mike Wazowski grumbling beside him. Boo isn't scared of Sulley at all. She nicknames him "Kitty", hides in unlikely places, and makes a mess of the city while the two of them try to get her home.
She scores a 9 because she's innocent, curious and loyal. She has no agenda, and she shows Sulley and Mike what the work they do really costs. The only thing that keeps her from a 10 is that she's a toddler and can't make real choices.
By the end, her laughter turns out to be a much better power source than screams. Her bond with Sulley is what changes the monster world. The final scene is a quiet, emotional payoff.
