Do we like Boa Hancock?

A character from One Piece (2003–present)

Our score: 7 out of 10. Vain and ruthless to outsiders, but fiercely loyal to her people and her sisters. Once she loves someone, she'd cross the world for them. We'd back her, with some caution.

Boa Hancock is introduced as the Snake Princess, ruler of Amazon Lily, an island where only women live. She is a Warlord of the Sea, a pirate who works with the World Government, and the captain of the Kuja Pirates. Everyone around her treats her as the most beautiful woman in the world, and she plays that role with total, imperious confidence.

Her coldness hides a painful past. She and her sisters suffered terribly when they were young, and that left her suspicious of the world and unwilling to bend to it. She is proud and arrogant, and she looks down on almost everyone. Inside her own circle, though, she is protective, generous and devoted.

We score her a 7. She is not the kindest person, and she can be harsh, but her loyalty and courage are real. When she decides someone matters to her, she puts her title, safety and reputation on the line. Her love for Luffy turns the haughty empress into a comic, endearing figure, and it drives some of her bravest choices.
