Do we like Bluey Heeler?
A character from Bluey (2018–)
Our score: 9 out of 10. Yes, we'd back her. She is bossy and stubborn in the way six-year-olds are, but she's kind and creative, and she keeps learning from her mistakes.
Bluey is the title character of an Australian animated preschool series made by Ludo Studio in Brisbane and created by Joe Brumm. She's a Blue Heeler puppy who lives with her dad Bandit, her mum Chilli and her little sister Bingo. Most episodes follow the family playing, and Bluey is usually the one who starts the game.
She is imaginative and curious, and fairly bossy. One description calls her the engine of nearly every game. That energy gets her into scrapes. In the episodes she gets frustrated learning to ride a bike. She hates the day ending and won't go to bed. She has to learn that taking turns is part of playing, and she tries to teach her friend Coco to follow the rules instead of taking shortcuts.
We score her high because her flaws are the ordinary ones of a small child, and she works on them. She plays fair more often than not, she's loyal to her sister and friends, and her imagination makes everyone's day better. She loses a point or two for the occasional strop and for being a little too sure she knows how the game goes.
