Do we like Bart Simpson?

A character from The Simpsons (1989–present)

Our score: 7 out of 10. A reliable troublemaker who is loyal and kind underneath. We'd back him, and we'd keep our phones away from Moe's Tavern.

Bart is the oldest of Homer and Marge's three children in The Simpsons, the long-running animated sitcom set in the town of Springfield. He is ten years old, a self-declared underachiever, and a regular in detention. Britannica calls him a prankster of the highest order. He was the show's original lead in its early seasons, and his catchphrases and spiky hair became famous worldwide.

His main hobbies are mischief, skateboarding, junk food and crank calls. He does well enough at school when he tries, but he is easily distracted and rarely tries. His best friend is Milhouse. His pranks mostly aim at people in charge, such as Principal Skinner and Moe the bartender, and they rarely come from real malice.

He's more than a brat. Under the swagger he is loyal, protective of his family and capable of kindness, often when you'd least expect it. He can also be a bit cowardly when he's caught. That mix of chaos and a soft centre is why he scores a 7: we'd happily back him, as long as someone else keeps an eye on the consequences.
