Do we like Arya Stark?
A character from Game of Thrones (2011–2019)
Our score: 8 out of 10. Yes, we'd back her. She's loyal, brave and hard to break, and she has a ruthless streak. She's best kept on your side and away from anyone on her list.
Arya is the youngest daughter of Lord Eddard Stark in the cold north of Westeros. She is a tomboy who is bored by embroidery and manners. She would rather practise with a sword, and she is fiercely loyal to her family, including her direwolf, Nymeria. When the royal court arrives at Winterfell, her family is pulled into a dangerous game of power.
Arya's appeal is that she is a survivor. She is clever, stubborn and brave, and she keeps her sense of who she is while the world turns brutal around her. She stands up to bullies early on, and she shows kindness to people with no power. The score loses points because her thirst for revenge grows darker over time, and she is not always as careful about that as she could be.
After her family is torn apart, Arya spends years on the run and in disguise. She trains in Braavos with the Faceless Men, an order of assassins. She goes back to Westeros and crosses names off her kill list, including Walder Frey. In the great battle against the Night King, she is the one who finally defeats him. In the end she doesn't want a throne or a title, and she sails west to explore.
