Do we like Anna?
A character from Frozen (2013)
Our score: 8 out of 10. Yes, we'd back her. She's loyal, brave and relentlessly kind, and she's right where it counts even when she's wrong about boys, snow and plans.
Anna is the younger princess of Arendelle, a Scandinavian-style kingdom. She grew up shut away in a castle with a sister who suddenly stopped talking to her. She is lonely, chatty, clumsy and endlessly optimistic. When the kingdom opens its gates for her sister Elsa's coronation, Anna is thrilled to meet people again.
When Elsa accidentally traps Arendelle in eternal winter and flees, Anna doesn't wait for the grown-ups to act. She takes charge herself. She leaves her kingdom behind and heads up the mountain with a gruff ice harvester, his reindeer and a talking snowman. She is stubborn and sometimes naive, but her determination and warmth win over everyone she meets.
We score her high because her flaws are the endearing kind. She trusts too quickly, most notably when she gets engaged to a charming prince she has just met. But she learns from it, and the story ends up defining love by the sisters' bond rather than by romance. In the end, Anna shows that true love can mean a sacrifice for family.
