Do we like Agro?

A character from Agro's Cartoon Connection (1990-1997)

Our score: 8 out of 10. Cheeky, grumpy and silly, but a loyal pal to kids. We'd happily back him for a morning of cartoons and bad jokes.

Agro is a scruffy puppet who hosted children's TV on Australia's Seven Network. He was voiced and operated by comedian Jamie Dunn. Agro's Cartoon Connection ran on weekday mornings from 1990 to 1997, and Agro introduced the cartoons from his cluttered set.

He's often described as a cross between Oscar the Grouch and Animal from the Muppets. He's grumpy, cheeky and gross, with an adult-leaning sense of humour. He trades banter with human co-hosts such as Ann-Maree Biggar and later Terasa Livingstone.

We score him a 7. He's a harmless troublemaker who made mornings fun for kids. His edgier jokes and gross-out habits keep him from the top marks.
