Do we like Agent 47?
A character from Hitman: Codename 47 (2000)
Our score: 4 out of 10. Precise, disciplined and darkly funny, but he kills for money. We'd back him over most of his targets, though we wouldn't invite him to dinner.
Agent 47 is a genetically engineered assassin who works for the International Contract Agency. Across the Hitman games he travels the world to take out targets, using disguises, gadgets and improvised weapons to do it. He is quiet and deadpan, and the games play him as a patient puzzle-solver in a sharp suit and red tie.
His targets are often corrupt billionaires, crime bosses, arms dealers and dictators, which makes the games easy to enjoy. Still, he is paid to kill, and he is good at it. He generally avoids collateral damage, but he is not a hero by any measure.
He gets a 4 because he has a code and a dry sense of humor, and he often ends up on the side of the less awful people. He is also a hired killer with a long trail of bodies behind him.
