Do we like Carla Denyer?
Our score: 8 out of 10. A clear record on LGBTQ+ rights and no harmful words or company turned up, but the evidence we could open was thin.
Carla Denyer is the Green MP for Bristol Central, first elected in July 2024. She co-led the Green Party of England and Wales alongside Adrian Ramsay, and by September 2025 she was being described as a former leader, with Zack Polanski having taken over. She is also openly bisexual: PinkNews profiled her as an out and proud bisexual woman when she was a co-leader heading into the 2024 election.
She didn't leave it at op-eds. By September 2025 she was pushing the government to let MPs debate the changes to the EHRC guidance, which is what a politician does when she means it. We found no harmful company, no slide into conspiracy theories and no campaigning against any group, though we couldn't open every page we wanted to.
On the other big conscience vote of the last Parliament, assisted dying, all four Green MPs backed the bill at third reading in June 2025. The party said there was no party line and each MP voted on their own judgement. She also called out Kemi Badenoch's GB News remarks in January 2025, as the Greens' co-leader, in a party statement.
Nothing fresh in the harm or conduct department lately. We found no court cases, no formal allegations and no apology she has needed to make, and that is a short list worth having. The honest gap is how she treats staff and colleagues behind closed doors, which the coverage we could read doesn't touch.
So: would we support her? Yes. She is a bisexual MP who has used her platform to back trans people when it was politically awkward, and she has a clean sheet on everything we could find. It's an 8 rather than a 10 only because the record we could read is thinner than we'd like.
