Do we like Camila Cabello?
Our score: 8 out of 10. Consistent public support for LGBTQ+ people and immigrants, with one real stain: old posts she apologised for.
Camila Cabello is Cuban-born and Miami-raised, and she wears that on her sleeve. After her Coachella set in April 2026 she shared photos with the Cuban flag and the hashtag #SOSCuba, calling the moment “moving and bittersweet”. It's a heartfelt political statement, and it fits a pattern of her speaking about where she comes from.
The big stain is old. In December 2019 she apologised for years-old Tumblr posts that reportedly included racial slurs and memes, calling the language “horrible and hurtful” and saying she was “uneducated and ignorant” at the time. She added that “once you know better, you do better”. She didn't list the posts, which is a fair gripe, but she owned it rather than hiding behind a publicist.
On the harm test she comes out clean. In 2020 she wrote “happy pride month” on Instagram, condemned violence against trans people, especially Black trans people, and pointed fans to groups to donate to, including the Transgender Law Center. We found nothing in her own words that targets LGBTQ+ people, women, migrants or the planet, and no pattern of working with people who do.
The standout is 2022. When Florida passed its so-called Don't Say Gay law, she worked with Lambda Legal and Equality Florida to launch a fund for LGBTQ+ kids and families, after a benefit concert with Kim Petras, Valentina and Shea Diamond. She said she was “appalled” her home state was putting young Floridians at risk, and the fund had raised more than $500,000 at last report. That's putting her name and her fans' money where her mouth is.
On immigration she has been consistent too. In June 2025, as ICE raids made headlines, she posted to Latino fans in Spanish, writing “You are not alone.” That sits with her earlier Dreamers advocacy, though that part we only saw in search listings.
She has also turned up for big-ticket charity. She was a named performer at 2022's Concert for Ukraine, a two-hour live fundraiser for the Disasters Emergency Committee's Ukraine appeal. No court cases against her turned up in our searches, and the rest of the 2026 chatter is album and showbiz gossip, which we've left alone.
