Do we like Amy Lee?
Our score: 7 out of 10. No harmful words or company turned up, plus real kindness to survivors, but the record on LGBTQ+ issues specifically is thin.
Evanescence have been going for more than 20 years since breakout album Fallen. In 2025 they played their first stadium tour, opening for Metallica, and they have also opened for My Chemical Romance and Halsey. Lee says she is chuffed to be headlining a 2026 world tour with female-fronted acts.
She's a fighter on the business side. In 2014 Blabbermouth, citing TMZ, reported she was suing her label Wind-Up, reportedly for $1.5 million in unpaid royalties, and alleging it tried to sabotage the band. Separately, her former managers 110 Management sued her in 2016 for commissions, first demanding $1.5 million, then $335,000. An arbitrator ruled she owed just $4,863.66, and a judge then awarded her $1,036,773.68 in fees.
On the harm test, nothing nasty came up. Lee stayed out of politics for years, saying she didn't want to divide fans, then in 2020 wrote that she would “never bow down to a dictator”. In 2024 she said she would be voting for Kamala Harris, citing reproductive rights, gun legislation and democracy. Where you land on that depends on your own politics, but none of it targets any group. We found no direct statement from her on trans rights, so that part is a gap, not a tick.
The most recent good stuff is local. When the tour hit Little Rock in July, the band gave tickets and a meet-and-greet to survivors of domestic violence and the advocates at Women's Own Worth. From the stage she told the crowd “You aren't stupid for loving someone.”
