Do we like Allu Arjun?
Our score: 7 out of 10. A clean record on harm and some real giving, held back by an unresolved stampede case and a recent clumsy remark.
Allu Arjun was born in 1982 into a Telugu film family and first appeared on screen as a child in 1985. He made his lead debut in Gangotri in 2003, broke through with Arya in 2004, and had his first 100 crore hit with Race Gurram in 2014. Pushpa: The Rise in 2021 made him a pan-India name.
That Pushpa run earned him the National Film Award for Best Actor, the first for a Telugu actor in the category. It's the arc of a second-generation star who became a national one without ditching his home industry.
The big stain is Sandhya Theatre. On 4 December 2024 a crowd surged at the Pushpa 2 premiere in Hyderabad and a woman died. Police booked the theatre management, his bouncers and him for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. He is accused number 11 among 23, and none of this has been proven in court.
He was arrested on 13 December 2024 and sent to 14 days of judicial custody. The High Court gave him interim bail the same day and a lower court later granted regular bail. In June 2026 he skipped an in-person hearing because he was on a film shoot, and his lawyer said he would join the next one virtually. The trial can't start until all the accused appear.
On the harm check, we found nothing hateful from him. Nothing turned up either way on LGBTQ+ issues, so that's a gap, not a clean bill. Unnamed sources told Onmanorama he turned down a tobacco endorsement because he didn't want to send a wrong message. In July 2026 he drew backlash for the fan-meet line about waiting outside a girl's house, which one report called a slip. No statement from him on it was reported.
In February 2026 a brand strategist claimed on a podcast that he had a rulebook of 42 rules for meeting him. His team denied it and threatened legal action, and she then said her claims were incorrect and not based on any verified document. That one looks like a rumour that fell over, not a character flaw.
