Do we like Agnes Reoma?

Our score: 8 out of 10. Nothing harmful found, a visible record of backing queer people, and no scandals, though the public record on her own views is thin.

Agnes Reoma is the bassist in Ben&Ben, the Filipino folk-pop outfit that is the most-streamed local act on Spotify. She grew up in Baguio and has described herself as a provincial kid who was wowed by Manila's indie scene in the early 2010s, when acts shared stages at little venues like Route 196 and SaGuijo.

The most interesting chapter is the band's early years. She told Billboard Philippines she was nervous about how her bandmates would take her relationship with keyboardist Pat Lasaten. They reacted warmly and treated it as no big deal, and she says society is more accepting now.

The harm check came up clean. Searches across LGBTQ+ issues, women, politics, vaccines and the climate turned up no harmful words or acts from her, and no dodgy company. The band's 2022 Pride video "Paninindigan Kita" runs the other way: it starred Agnes and Pat and drew on their own story as a tribute to queer love. She said at the time that she was excited for the number of queer kids who would see it.

In 2026 she told Billboard Philippines she hopes to see more queer people and women in the music industry. That is a small, concrete ask rather than a slogan, and it fits the pattern of someone who treats visibility as the point. The honest gap is that she hasn't said much publicly on politics, health or the environment, so the clean record is partly a quiet one.

The good-person side is just as uneventful, which is a compliment. No lawsuits, allegations or court cases turned up under her name. The band has had its public rows, but the coverage we found about them doesn't name her. In a 2025 interview she said the band keeps personal hard feelings away from the other members and off the stage.

The recent news is a goodbye party. The Saranggola concert on 2 October was a trip through the band's albums, with members seen wiping away tears at the title song. She appears in the coverage only in a group photo, which suits a bassist.
